The Applebutter Express, comprised of husband and wife duo Kyle and Shannon Biss, describe themselves as “uncut ukulele funk.” Their unique blend of bluegrass, funk, and americana teamed with the vocal harmonies created between the two makes the act difficult to categorize as anything but “delightfully unique.”
Now joined by a fiddle and upright bass player, they perform regularly in the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas, and can be found at many of the Florida festivals, such as Suwannee Springfest, Orange Blossom Jamboree and Riverhawk. They also had the pleasure of opening 2012’s Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN. You can find music and apparel for The Applebutter Express on their website, www.TheApplebutterExpress.com, iTunes, Amazon.com, Facebook and Reverb Nation. They have completed a self-titled debut album, and a sophomore album is being recorded live at the historic Sound Emporium studios in Nashville, TN and should be available in mid-2013.
Lead vocalist Shannon Biss is a 25 year old Florida native, veteran musician, and accomplished baking and pastry chef. Her vocal harmonies are paired together with her husband, 26 year old Kyle Biss and his ukulele. Kyle also is a veteran musician, who found his love for ukulele two years ago.
